There are virtual checkpoints spread throughout your local and surrounding communities. Your goal is to visit each checkpoint and collect the virtual gems scattered there. Collect as many gems as you can, then use your gems to purchase virtual characters and accessories. Create a virtual scene with your items in augmented reality! Make sure to use #CommunityGemsHunt and share your pictures and stories with your friends on social media!
The application is completely free to download and use. Data is not required to use the app once it is downloaded to your device.
How to Play:
This is a self-guided, scavenger hunt-style game for you to play with your family and/or friends. . It is available for FREE from the communities of Rothesay, Quispamsis, Grand Bay-Westfield, and Saint John, New Brunswick. Get out and explore the community and while you are at each checkpoint looking for treasure, why not participate in local activities like hiking, picnicking, skating, snowshoeing, sliding, etc.
To play - download the app then register for an account (or play as a guest, but we cannot store your data to our cloud services from guest accounts). Next, you will be brought to the map showing all 40 checkpoint locations! Visit as many as you can and collect hidden gems in each location. Each checkpoint has 9 gems hidden around the area. A compass will help you find the virtual gems. After collecting enough gems, you will be able to buy characters, props, backpacks, and environments for your virtual scene, build them and take a photo standing with your character and scene. Dont forget to share your photo with #CommunityGemsHunt!
